Twitter Users To Decide #HappyDiwali Emoji With A Poll

The winning option of the poll would activate as the #HappyDiwali emoji for 2018

It is that time of the year again when Indians across the country and the world are in the festive mood; gifting and greeting each other as they begin their celebrations for Diwali - a festival that marks the victory of good over evil. As part of its interactive initiatives to add on to the festivities, Twitter India announced today a special Twitter Poll for people to select their favourite Diwali emoji design and the most voted design will activate as the #HappyDiwali emoji for this year.

People can choose from four options by voting for the emoji they prefer amongst a diya, rangoli and a Diwali lantern. The option that gets the maximum votes will be declared as the Diwali emoji for 2018 on Friday 2nd November by  @TwitterIndia. The emoji will be live and available to use from 5th November to 9th November.

People can vote for their favorite emoji by visiting the pinned Tweet on @TwitterIndia’s profile and casting their vote by clicking on one of the four options for the #HappyDiwali emoji.

Once the final emoji has been declared, using hashtags #HappyDiwali#HappyDeepavali#Diwali,#Deepavali#दिवाली#दीपावली#शुभदीपावली#शुभदीपावळी#ദീപാവലിആശംസകള്,#ದೀಪಾವಳಿಹಬ್ಬದಶುಭಾಷಯಗಳು#தீபாவளிநல்வாழ்த்துக்கள்#ਦਿਵਾਲੀਮੁਬਾਰਕ#શુભદિવાળી, while composing a Tweet will add the winning Diwali emoji to the Tweet. This will provide Twitter users a fun way to spread the festive cheer and reinforce a sense of unity and harmony amongst people in India and Indians around the world.

The new emoji is available on Twitter and Twitter Lite. Twitter Lite minimizes data usage, loads quickly on slower networks and takes up less space on your device. Find out more about Twitter Lite here.
